The lemon bar


  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar
  • 4 large eggs
  • 2 cups granulated sugar
  • 1/3 cup fresh lemon juice
  • 1 tsp. baking powder
  • 1/4 tsp. salt
  • Powdered sugar, for dusting


  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter, all-purpose flour, and powdered sugar until well combined.
  3. Press the dough into the bottom of an ungreased 9×13 inch baking pan. Use a fork to prick the dough all over.
  4. Bake the crust for 15-20 minutes, or until lightly golden.
  5. While the crust is baking, prepare the lemon filling. In a separate bowl, beat the eggs, granulated sugar, fresh lemon juice, baking powder, and salt until well combined.
  6. Pour the lemon mixture over the warm crust.
  7. Return the pan to the oven and bake for an additional 20-25 minutes, or until the filling is set.
  8. Let the bars cool completely in the pan.
  9. Once cool, dust the top of the bars with powdered sugar.
  10. Cut the bars into squares and serve.
