  • 2 tablespoons of olive oil
  • 1 small onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves of garlic, minced

  • 1/4 cup of chopped fresh cilantro
  • 1 lime, juiced


  1. Rinse the nopales under cold water and remove any thorns or rough edges. Cut the nopales into small pieces.
  2. Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the chopped onion and cook until it becomes translucent, stirring occasionally.
  3. Add the minced garlic to the skillet and cook for an additional 30 seconds.
  4. Add the nopales to the skillet along with the cumin, salt, and pepper. Cook for about 10 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the nopales are tender.
  5. Remove the skillet from the heat and stir in the chopped cilantro and lime juice.
  6. Serve the nopales as a side dish or as a filling for tacos or burritos.
