Homemade Chocolate Chip Cookies

Ingredients:

  • 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 3/4 cup white granulated sugar
  • 3/4 cup brown sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 cups semisweet chocolate chips

Directions:

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt.
  3. In a separate mixing bowl, cream the softened butter, white granulated sugar, and brown sugar together until light and fluffy.
  4. Beat in the eggs, one at a time, and then stir in the vanilla extract.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, mixing until well combined.
  6. Fold in the chocolate chips until evenly distributed throughout the dough.
  7. Drop tablespoon-sized balls of dough onto an ungreased baking sheet, leaving about 2 inches of space between each cookie.
  8. Bake for 10-12 minutes, or until the edges are golden brown and the centers are set.
  9. Remove from the oven and let the cookies cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.

Optional: Sprinkle with a little bit of sea salt on top of the cookies for an extra flavor kick.
