  • 2 ripe avocados
  • 1 small red onion, finely chopped
  • 1 jalapeño pepper, seeded and finely chopped
  • 2 cloves of garlic, minced
  • 1/4 cup of chopped fresh cilantro
  • Juice of 1 lime
  • Salt and pepper to taste


  1. Cut the avocados in half, remove the pits, and scoop out the flesh with a spoon. Place the avocado flesh in a bowl.
  2. Add the chopped red onion, jalapeño pepper, minced garlic, and chopped cilantro to the bowl with the avocado.
  3. Squeeze the lime juice over the mixture and sprinkle with salt and pepper to taste.
  4. Use a fork or a potato masher to mash the ingredients together until the desired consistency is reached. Some people like their salsa chunky, while others prefer it smooth. It’s up to you!
  5. Taste the salsa and adjust the seasoning as needed.
  6. Serve immediately with tortilla chips, as a topping for tacos or burritos, or as a dip for vegetables.
